Cartoon Network aired a sneak peek trailer of the new ThunderCats animated series yesterday during the Hall of Game Awards After Party.  The minute-long trailer revealed details about the show including familiar faces such as Jaga, Grune, and the rest of the original ThunderCats.  In addition, we also saw who we assume to be King Claudus, Lion-O and Tygra’s father — and the character Larry Kenney will be voicing.

We also get our first look at Wilykit and Wilykat as well as some new characters we have yet to be introduced.  The trailer did not have any dialogue, so we still don’t know how any of the characters sound, but if the trailer’s music was any indication, the soundtrack is going to be very grand in scale.

Check out the trailer courtesy of tdubois01 as well as some screencaps we gathered from the video!

Look for a detailed breakdown of the trailer soon!  Definitely a great time to be a ThunderCats fan!

According to a conversation between ThunderCats Lair forum member catmountain and ThunderCats Executive Producer Michael Jelenic, a short ThunderCats clip might be shown this Friday on Cartoon Network’s Hall of Game Awards.

While asking a question in regards to which character Jim Meskiman would be voicing in the new series, Jelenic responded with:

“Can’t give those details, but I hear they MIGHT (this is not confirmed) so some actual animation during Cartoon Network’s Hall of Games tonight.”

The quote mentions that the awards show was “tonight” (Monday), but Cartoon Network’s website says the awards show is airing on Friday, February 25 at 7PM ET/PT.  According to various reports on the interweb, the actual awards show took place on Monday, February 21 and will be edited and aired this coming Friday.  Whether or not the ThunderCats clip was shown at the actual awards remains to be seen.  If the clip was not premiered on Monday, Cartoon Network might work the clip into a commercial which could possibly be shown during the television airing on Friday.

We’ll try to get a bit more information on this rumor, but if nothing comes up…we will know on Friday whether or not ThunderCats will make its anticipated premiere!

For those interested in the actual Hall of Game Awards, here is the official press release from Cartoon Network:

THANK YOU for uploading the youtube clip. After seeing the preview I am REALLY excited for the show. The anime look doesn’t bother me at all, and it looks like it’s action packed and VERY epic. Can’t wait til the fall!
